Architecture
Designed with a point of view.
Architecture is more than the final photograph. VELUM gives architects, interior designers and spatial practices a portfolio that makes room for both the building and the thinking behind it. Its visual language draws on the architect’s own working materials: an atmospheric render, a precise technical drawing and a looser watercolour study. The large-scale imagery and bold VELUM wordmark make the opening feel like an architectural presentation rather than a conventional business landing page. Stone tones, quiet surfaces and restrained supporting typography let light, texture and proportion carry the atmosphere. The technical drawing-inspired navigation extends that idea into the interface: the way visitors move through the site belongs to the same visual world as the work. This direction suits a practice that wants to be chosen for its judgement, not simply its project count. A prospective client can look beyond a beautiful exterior and understand how the practice approaches context, material, openness and everyday life. The portfolio becomes the beginning of a conversation about fit.
Inside the template.
The signature hero layers three views of the same building. A circular, feathered reveal brings the drawing into the rendered scene, while the sketch introduces a more expressive view of the idea. This is an architectural interaction with a purpose: it connects conception and construction instead of adding movement unrelated to the subject. Editable image controls allow the visual story to be adapted to another practice’s work. The homepage introduces selected projects, then connects them to a six-project catalogue, a studio page and a contact page. The project presentation combines large images with captions, material information and substantial narrative. Courtyard House, for example, moves from the garden and sheltered threshold to limestone, oak and facade studies. That sequence provides a model for explaining why a project looks and works the way it does. The route to an enquiry is deliberately considered. Visitors can explore the work, read the studio’s principles and process, then choose Start a conversation. The contact page asks for project type, location and an initial outline, while reassuring visitors that a finished brief is not necessary. This gives interested clients a clear next step and helps a practice begin with useful context. It is designed to support informed enquiries; results still depend on your own portfolio, offer and audience.
